Richmond Festival
A quote from Mario Bansen "That was a very memorable experience for us here! We thoroughly enjoyed all the dances and yes, the community dance was a unique experience ( first time for the Richmonders! )That was awesome! The Philippine embassy's Vice-Consul Robert Borje and I were watching the dances together. It was his first time to see the dances and was so impressed and excited ,he jumped in and joined the community dance without hesitation. He expressed an interest in inviting you to a celebration in D.C."

Grand Canyao 2006 - Post Update
Hello Everyone,
I just got the final word from MWR Cheatham Annex that all their campgrounds are now limited to 100 people per camp. This was decided by the new Commanding Officer of the base.
Their issues are:
1. Toilet facilities can only handle a limited number of people (100 per campground, and 75 people on two of their smaller campgrounds)
2. Parking has been a security/safety issue for them due to congestion of cars in the campground entrance and non designated parking along D street.
Solution:
1. In order for us to be able to rent the grounds we have to at least rent out the adjacent camp ground.
2. We will place signs for designated parking areas expect everyone to follow the rules.
3. We will rent out Portable toilets to help ease the congestion of the drainage pipes. (Ka-asi met djay toilet pump da kano ta haan na kaya dagiti balitok nga i-dep-deposit yu- :-)
Joking aside, I've pointed out that not all attendees are camping and a number of us will be renting cabins, staying in hotels, going home for the night, etc. Their issues are safety (max number of people per camp ground), the other is toilet capacity and lastly, the parking.
Rey Brake, the new manager of MWR Cheatham Annex is cordial and apologetic for the new rules considering he knows of our track record for the last 11 years we've been doing the canao on base with no problem as well as he wants our business.. This was something passed down to him from higher ups and is following orders.
I don't think this is a problem for us to comply with, and I recommend we rent out the other campground and make plans to spread out campers as well as parking designations. Baguio Fil Am is this year's host and we will do our best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
As like before, I still need names of attendees. This list will be submitted to Base Security for access to the base.
Additionally, pls identify next to the names whether the person is camping, staying at a hotel, cabin or off base residence. No need to specify what address or name of hotel or cabin. This information will give us a good idea of how many are actually camping out.
Also please include in your list the number of kids(1-12 years old), the number of young adults (13 to 19 years old) attending from each group. This will help Baguio Fil Am plan for parlor games and other things.
Please pass it on to your membership.
Thank you.

Shipment of 20 box Computers and Books going to Mindanao
Follow-up message
Hi Bong, Al & John,
In behalf of MinLand and the partner communities and schools, I would like to express our very heartfelt gratitude for all your sacrifices and efforts just to touch lives.
In our future turnover ceremonies, we are planning to bring a "bitay-max" collage of photos of the donors and partners of move on phils (i.e. CPOA, Baguio Fil-Ams) in action - of course with your permission that we download them from your website - just so that the beneficiaries will have in mind the faces of those helping them when they pray to the Almighty.
You just have no idea how you are inspiring your kababayans to continue surviving day after day after day of confusion that the relentless calamities (political, man-made and natural) have figured in our lives here back home.
Again, many many thanks.
Best regards,
EJ
